On the evening of Tuesday, December 11, 2018, the Mt. Sinai Development Corporation hosted a public kickoff meeting to launch the community the planning process for the Winstanley neighborhood and surrounding area.  The kick-off meeting was attended by nearly 50 residents and community stakeholders to discuss the purpose and importance of a community-based plan to help create a collective vision and develop goals and strategies to align policy, investment and collaboration for the next 20 years.

Members of the public listened to a 20-minute presentation by Brian Hurd, Technical Assistance Program Manager at Rise, on the community planning and engagement process.  During his presentation members of the Steering Committee were introduced.

Carrick Reddin, Project Manager at Rise, followed by providing directions for the public input process.  Community members were asked to address strengths, opportunities and challenges from their perspective.  The graph below illustrates the process community members took to help begin informing the first stage of the planning process.  John Cruz, Data Manager Coordinator at Rise, served as a resource by providing key information for community members to use during the planning activity.
