Jobs and Transportation

Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., the second community workshop took place at New Life Community Church, located at 1919 State Street in East St Louis, Illinois.  Pastor Kendall Granger and Steering Committee Member Gerry Bolden brought greetings to the community members in attendance.

The workshop focused on the topics of Jobs and Transportation.  John Cruz, Data Coordinator for Rise, provided in-depth data on both subjects.  He then opened the floor up for questions where great perspectives were shared by community members. Many in the attendance shared the challenges but there were many ideas for providing feasible and sustainable solutions.  This information was captured in a group setting. However, a deep dive took place by dividing the room into groups. The groups were facilitated by Steering Committee members with a non-Steering Committee member reporting back to the larger group. This information generated significant information to help inform the themes, goals and strategies that will be drafted over the coming months.
